Here we are again! As we fall into a sea of red, orange, yellow, and green hues, there’s no denying, Hudson Valley, autumn feels good. But seeing the area this time of year is only part of the magic. With so much to do and so little time, we put together a fall bucket list of must-do activities in the region.

 

1. Get Lost in a Corn Maze

Staff pick: Fishkill Farms

Get lost on purpose for a good cause at the Fishkill Farms corn maze! This year the maze honors Lucinda Franks Morgenthau, a novelist, Pulitzer-prize winning journalist, and the mother of the farm’s owner Josh Morgenthau. $1 of every ticket will go to a charity supporting a cause that was near and dear to Lucinda. The money will go to a different local charity each week. Don’t forget to check out the apple, pumpkin, and flower picking, as well as the cider tastings while you’re there!

2. Become a Cider Connoisseur

Eggnog is to Christmas, as fall is to…Cider, and there is no better place to enjoy this fall essential than at the Angry Orchard Brewery in Walden. Start your all immersive cider experience with a walk through the 60 acre orchard, before settling down for a cider tasting and great eats. Then cap off the day with the famous Tree House tour, where you’ll enjoy scenic views of the Shawangunk Mountains and learn facts about the construction of the Treehouse, followed by tastings of two more ciders!

4. Get Away For The Weekend

With all the all the travel restrictions and talks of variants, it’s hard to know just where to go to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city, so here is our suggestion. Venture north to the scenic town of Lake Placid. Most famously known for hosting the winter Olympics, lake Placid has so much to offer. From the vast array of restaurants and shops on main street, to it’s picturesque views of the beautiful Adirondack Mountains this small town has something for everyone.

After a night on the town in Lake Placid, what better way to clear your mind than an early morning hike through the Adirondacks, New York’s tallest mountain range. The Adirondack Mountains consists of 46 peaks, Mount Marcy being the highest at 5,344 feet, the highest point in New York State! For those a little less thrill seeking, take a scenic drive up the mountain and experience the beauty of a region with one of the longest fall foliage seasons in the country.

Features include a pumpkin bridge, pumpkins shaped like your favorite movie characters, a pumpkin windmill and so much more!
